He focused much of his research on how to prevent the spread of harmful microorganisms by developing vaccines, including a vaccine against rabies. Pasteur's many contributions to both medicine and industry makes him one of the geniuses of science. His work continues today in the Pasteur Institute, a world-wide health organization.
