"The early history of the City comes from the History of the Town of Old Smithfield. Central Falls was a village in this town and later became a part of the Town of Lincoln. Perhaps the best way to describe the early territory of the City is that it was mostly inhabited by the Nipmuc, Wampanoag and Narragansett Indians. The area was a dense woodland and for the most part contained many pine trees." --See page 1.
